Sony announced two new retail bundles today, the first Limited edition bundle includes the PS3 console, the Call of Duty: Black Ops game and the Black Ops First Strike DLC pack. The second bundle involves the PSP. It includes the core handheld, a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, MLB: The Show and Gran Turismo.
The Black Ops bundle features the games and a brand new 160GB PlayStation 3 for $299, the current standard retail price for the 160GB model. So customers are basically getting both Black Ops and the First Strike DLC for free, a great deal if you haven't already bought the game. The Black Ops bundle will be available nationwide at retailers on May 31.
As far as the second bundle involving the PSP, we can only speculate that is part of the efforts on selling the PSP handhelds as much as possible before the new NGP handheld is available in the market. As we mentioned before, the Limited edition pack will feature the PSP, a 2GB memory stick and two games. The pack will run for $159.99. The PSP-3000 Core Pack, which comes without a Memory Stick or any games, current retails for $129.99. Considering that a 2GB Memory Stick alone has a market value of around $20, and also that the games could cost easily between $30 to $40 each, this is not a bad deal at all. The PSP entertainment pack will be available in June but there are no specific release dates on this one.
