PSN is up in Japan, possibly going up May 3 in the US and Europe

UPDATE:We would like to let our readers know that the rumors were not true, Sony has officially confirmed that the PSN services are down for Japan as of May 3. The twitter accounts were mere wishful thinking. We still do hope that the playstation network comes back up as soon as possible, like everybody else.

The playstation network is now up and fixed in Japan, at least that's what a lot of customers are reporting through their twitter accounts. Sony has not confirmed nor denied the news yet, but given that in the press conference held yesterday the japanese company promised that the PSN would be up this week, the timing does not seem far fetched at all.

Unfortunately though, for the rest of the world the PSN services seem to be down. According to some rumors going around the web, America and Europe could be seeing the Playstation Network working by tomorrow May 3rd and we venture to guess that the only reason for the delay is that Sony is still working the last technical issues to get the whole network back to its original state.

//

These new developments come after Sony was under fire after suffering one of the biggest data leaks to date and was forced to shutdown its Playstation Network, a service that allows customers to play online. Sony has been doing damage control for the last week and has promised that it will work hard to regain customer trust.

So far Sony seems to be fairing well after the press conference and is offering to provide compensation to its customers as soon as the PSN is back online.

Ok that may be the case of people being impatient but the thing is, SONY is telling their "Loyal Customers" that it will be up in a couple days, then by the end of the week, now by the end of the month, next it's going to be by the end of the year. They are losing customers the more they lie to us. People who are unemployed play video games, what's wrong with that? It's like if all the gamers complained to the people who work all the time. It's their life so leave them be, i'm only 17 and i'm a major gamer, as soon as i finish my homework I go and play Call Of Duty. It's addictive and entertaining. So i feel the pain just as well as these other people but i'm going to get a XBOX for the meantime then when the PSN is back up i'll be on PS3. Thanks & GoodBye (:

It's a shame whats happened to Sony but rumours about PSN up in areas, big deal. Just wait till its up. If all your doing is moaning about being a PS3 owner & how your trading it in for a Xbox 360, go tell someone that cares. Loyal Sony customers know that the company is doing what they can to fix the issue. Why don't you ask yourself, what would you be doing if Sony was your company? People have got to realise that its the network thats down, its not stopped games working altogether. Ok so there are people who just want to sit and play Call Of Duty all day, try other games. Gaming isn't just about online. I might come across as an ass but I am one of many who would like to play online but lets just have some patience.

People in America and everywhere else (besides Japan I guess) really just need to learn how to be patient. Rebuilding a whole network, from scratch basically, is not easy. You need to first learn about the technical stuff then you can have the right to complain as much as you want. Don't blame Sony either, it's not their fault some dumb ass actually had the balls to hack their Network. Be mad at the hackers, not Sony, they're doing their best. If you really NEED to play video games, like you'll die without it.. then I suggest you seek some help.

I agree...a lot of people around here really should get a life... Who cares if it takes 2 or 3 weeks or even a month for the psn to work... as long as they build a safer and better network, so next time idiots (hackers) can think twice about the shit they are doing. And I hope that Sony and who is responsible of investigation can find these m****fuc*ers and punish their asses.
