PSN down might lead to Increase in Xbox 360 Sales

It seems that the outages that are plaguing Sony Playstation gamers could not have come at a worst time. The outage has come at a rather unfortunate time for SCEE as Portal 2, Mortal Combat 4 and SOCOM 4 all come with online game play and with a rely heavily on the PSN network.

Adding insult to injury the outage has occurred in what in a lot of places is a long weekend meaning a lot of gamers would be expected to play online. In the meantime Sony is trying to play down their issues by being less than forthcoming regarding their network problems.

Microsoft, on the other hand, seems to be doing much better. At the same time that the PSN has gone offline, they have launched their Xbox Nations Online Event, which will see millions of gamers invited to play online for free this weekend. Of course Microsoft has declared that they expect more players online this weekend and have taken the opportunity to boost their network reliability.

When asked about the possibility of an increase in sales of the Xbox 360 console due to loss of connection on the PSN, the reps at Microsoft really did not have any comment, but it's only a logical conclusion that if a lot of people have problems with the PSN, they might start to reconsider their choice of gaming device and down the road we could see gamers switching from the PS3 to the Xbox 360 due to network reliability.

All in all it seems that even though Microsoft will not publicly acknowledge it, the fact that the PSN has been down for two days is proven to provide Microsoft in a better position against the competition and might in the long run affect game and console sales. Let us know what you think about the subject in the comments section below.

Personally, I hate the game and not the console. This is a small exception. To any "loyal" fan boy still hugging their PS3 and cursing the 360, really needs to grow up. Both consoles have games that I don't care for.

There was a small scam ring going on about the PS2 release back in the day. Sony refused to help those few who got caught in the loophole/legal scam. It wouldn't have taken a pin prick out of their earnings. This was easily exploited from the so called shortage of PS2's.. I've always held a grudge against them ever since.

So how much is Sony paying you Hellooe? Must be a handsome sum. As for me, I'm just going to stick with the Wii. I had thought about getting a PS3 this year, but no way am I doing that now lol.

I bought a 360...and some of my PS3 fanboy friends were ripping into me, calling it a "Crashbox", laughing at the fact that I had to pay $5 per month to play online.

When this happened they quickly got quiet. I guess it makes sense to pay to have some good encryption.

Guys don't move to Xbox! The PSN will be up soon, yes we are all desperate to play, but don't be wasting money on something else, then having to pay to play online every year. By the most of you have your Xbox it'll be up. And it will be up in a couple of days, so just think about it. PS3 is awesome, and we all know it! It's probably even better than the Xbox. If you're that desperate, play outside, or even play Minecraft?
