New LA Noire Video Released

If Red Dead Redemption taught video game players anything, it's never to underestimate studio Rockstar Games.

Their next test arrives this May, in the form of open-world criminal drama L.A. Noire. Rockstar has released a new gameplay video that breaks down some of the action.

The game follows Cole Phelps, a World War II veteran who begins work as a rookie cop for the Los Angeles Police Department in the late 1940s.

Based on the video, it appears L.A. Noire features many of the core components of their open world titles -- chase sequences, gunfights and plenty of locales to explore.

However, two elements stick out: first is the detective work and interrogation mechanics. Players solve crimes by scouring scenes for clues and questioning suspects and witnesses. It looks like a very fascinating component.

The second is the astonishing facial animation. Based on the 3 1/2-minute video, the slightest of expressions can be read on a character's face. It's quite impressive.

Check out the video for yourself below, and tell us what you think of L.A. Noire.
