Fallout 3 Expansion Fallout 3 Expansion
This compilation from Bethesda Softworks contains two full expansion packs for the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 3. The third expansion, Fallout 3: Broken Steel finds gamers joining the Brotherhood of Steel in an effort to eradicate Enclave soldiers and supporters from the Capital Wasteland. Broken Steel raises the level cap to 30, regardless of what game-ending option players chose in Fallout 3, and the expansion features new armor, weaponry, and perks to acquire, as well as new enemies, including high-level ghouls, stronger super mutants, and more advanced Enclave soldiers. "Point Lookout" is set in a dark, murky swampland along the Maryland coast, and offers an open-ended environment in which players can explore a dilapidated beachfront area, search an expansive mansion, or simply trudge through the extensive miasmal bog. The expansion includes new weapons to acquire, new quests to undertake, new monsters to battle, and new perks and achievements to unlock. Christopher Brown.

From Wikipedia:

Fallout 3 takes place in the year 2277, 36 years after the setting of Fallout 2 and 200 years after the nuclear apocalypse that devastated the game's world in a future where international conflicts culminated in a Sino-American war in the second half of the 21st Century. The game places the player in the role of an inhabitant of Vault 101, a survival shelter the size of a village, designed to protect a small number of humans from the nuclear fallout. When the player character's father disappears under mysterious circumstances, the player is forced to escape from the Vault and journey into the ruins of Washington D.C to track him down. Along the way the player is assisted by a number of human survivors and must battle a myriad of enemies that inhabit the area now known as the "Capital Wasteland". The game has an attribute and combat system typical of an action strategy game but also incorporates elements of first person shooter and survival horror games.

Following its release, Fallout 3 has received very positive responses from critics and a number of Game of the Year awards, praising in particular the game's open-ended gameplay and flexible character-leveling system. The NPD Group estimated that Fallout 3 sold over 610,000 units during its initial month of release in October 2008, performing better than Bethesda Softworks' previous game, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, which sold nearly 500,000 units in its first month. The game has also received post-launch support with Bethesda releasing five downloadable add-ons for the game.
